3M™ Novec™ 1230 fire systems

The search for halon 1301 replacements has been on-going for over 10 years and each alternative brings with it a unique set of properties. We have brought to the market products that match the requirements of industry and our latest research allows us to introduce fire protection systems using 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid , a new development with some advantages over current technologies. 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid allows us to complement our existing range of agents as the phase out of halons accelerates in many countries around the world.

Environmental Features

3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid contains neither bromine nor chlorine and has zero 0zone depleting potential.
The atmospheric lifetime of 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid is estimated to be in the range of 3-5 days and with a global warming potential of 1, it is considered that the 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid has no measurable impact on climate change.

These attributes ensure that 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fluid represents a truly sustainable technology. When fire breaks out in server rooms, data centres, museums and other sensitive environments, sometimes the solution can be as damaging as the fire.

Gielle’s 3M™ Novec™ 1230 fire suppression system uses an inert carbon-based chemical that powerfully fights fire yet is safe for property, people, and to the environment. It looks like water but doesn’t cause the damage normally associated with water because it contains no moisture. The result is lower repair bills and less impact on business.

3M™ Novec™ 1230 has no harmful impact on the environment. It has an atmospheric lifetime of only five days while the closest chemical alternative has an atmospheric life time of 33–36 years.

FM-200 fire systems

Gielle FM200 systems are based on many years experience in the design, supply, installation and commissioning of gaseous fire fighting systems. During this time Halons have provided industry and commerce with a unique and versatile extinguishant to respond to most fire protection needs.

The Montereal Protocol presented the fire protection industry with a most demanding challenge – to find a replacement for Halons. Gielle evaluated a large number of candidate agents over several years before selecting FM200.

FM200 is a colourless gas which is liquified under pressure for storage. Like Halon 1301 it has a low toxicity level and is superpressurised with Nitrogen to 24.8bar (360psi). It rapidly extinguishes most commonly found fires through a combination of chemical and physical mechanisms.

  • Zero ozone depleting potential

  • Safe for use in occupied areas

  • Suitable for protection on a range of high value risks

  • Existing Halon/CO2 control systems can be adapted for use with FM200

  • Requires minimal storage space

  • Like Halon, no clean-up required after discharge

  • Low pressure system

  • Listed in the US Environmental Protection

Inergen fire systems

The Inergen gaseous system is an inert gas fire suppressant consisting of natural gases and extinguishes fire without causing harm to people, property or the environment.

Inergen is a patented unique composition of safe gases including nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide that naturally already occur within the normal atmosphere we all breathe so it overcomes flames, not people.

Inergen is designed to detect smoke, release the extinguishment gas and suppress the fire before any significant damage occurs. It is designed to exceed the requirements of World Standard for Gaseous fire extinguishing systems.

Features

Powerful and people friendly: Smothers fire by diluting the oxygen concentration within the risk area, while it continues to allow people to breathe easily as they evacuate the area.

Environmentally friendly: Composed of natural substances from the atmosphere, the Inergen system has no pollution, ozone or global warming effect. When the components are released they simply resume their natural role in the atmosphere.

Exempt from Federal Government regulations: Containing no Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) or Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGG), Inergen is exempt from these strict regulations and restrictions.

Equipment safe: Unlike many other agents that can become corrosive and permanently damage electronic components, Inergen does not form any corrosive by-products that can damage equipment in server rooms, data centres, medical facilities, laboratories or other sensitive electronic environments.

Cost effective: The result is lower repair bills, less impact on business and a safer environment for your people.

Halotron fire systems

Halotron products are halocarbon-based clean fire extinguishing agents with a wide variety of commercial, industrial, maritime and military applications. They are discharged either as a rapidly evaporating liquid (Halotron I) or gas (Halotron II) that leaves no residue. This minimizes or eliminates the potential damage to valuable assets like electronic equipment, machinery, motors and construction materials that is typical of conventional dry chemical–based extinguishing agents. Halotron products are environmentally acceptable under the U.S. EPA’s SNAP program as well as other regulatory programs, and are sold throughout the world.

  • Halotron I is designed for streaming application in handheld fire extinguishers, certain local application systems, and on a limited basis in total flooding applications.

  • Halotron II is a total flooding clean agent designed for normally unoccupied spaces.

Halotron II is a clean total flooding agent based on HFC-134a (CH2FCF3), HFC-125 (CHF2CF3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). It replaces halon 1301 with great effectiveness in certain applications. It is primarily distributed in Sweden and Finland, but is also approved under the U.S. EPA SNAP program, subject to usage limitations.

Carbon dioxide CO2 fire systems

Carbon dioxide is a clean gaseous agent, in plentiful supply and can be stored in either high pressure cylinders or low pressure tanks. It has been used effectively as a fire extinguishing gas since the early 1900’s.

Carbon Dioxide systems can be used for either total flooding or local application and are ideal for protecting high value assets where large quantities of agent is required. These include dip tanks, rolling mills, data processing centres, vaults/tape storage and marine machinery spaces.

CO2 FIRE SYSTEMS

The Gielle Carbon Dioxide Fire Suppression System is an engineered system available in three application configurations: total flooding (for unoccupied areas), local application or hand-hose line. System includes detectors, a control unit, agent storage cylinders, piping and discharge nozzles. Gaseous carbon dioxide rapidly suppresses fire by a combination of cooling and oxygen displacement.

  • Proven quality and reliability with the Gielle brand

  • An inexpensive and easy-to-access agent when refill is necessary

  • Wide ranges of proven safe, hazard protection

NAF S 125 fire systems

NAF S 125 is a UL Recognized and US EPA SNAP Listed gaseous extinguishing agent. NAF S 125 Engineered Systems are UL Listed.

NAF S 125 is suitable for use in rooms, vaults, enclosed machines, containers, storage areas and wherever fixed enclosures are present. It is an electrically non-conductive media, it can therefore be used to protect electronic and delicate equipment. After discharge NAF S 125 does not require the clean-up of the protected enclosure, making it extremely useful in applications where damage by other extinguishing methods would be prohibitive.

NAF S 125 has a low order of toxicity. At typical design concentrations it can be safely used to protect normally occupied areas.

The NAF S 125 formulation includes a patented additive that reduces the levels of decomposition by-products normally generated by halocarbons during extinguishment and enhances extinguishing performance (inter alia US Patent No. 6,402,975 and EU Patent No. 630,278).

By weight NAF S 125 requires the lowest concentration, making NAF S 125 the most cost effective clean agent solution available in the market today.
